I never thought the trolls would find my journal to be of any interest, but apparently I was wrong. Time to friend-lock it, I guess.
Please reply to this screened post if you wish to be added to my friend-list.
ETA: A brief note - I'm rather uncomfortable with lurkers, so I periodically trim my f-list. If I add you to the f-list, I expect you to comment every now and then. Also, please check out the Henhouse Rules in my profile, if only to avoid nasty surprises.

Dear Rumiko Takahashi:
Thank you so much for letting me play with your characters. I had a lot of fun, and I even made some new friends. I'm returning the InuYasha gang to you now, but maybe I'll take them out again some day.
With gratitude,
Lavender
PS - I try to be careful with my playthings, so I'm cleaning up a bit. Any unfinished stories (Blood Chit and Letters) have been removed, leaving a tidy room of one-shots and completed multi-chapter works behind.

Back in January, I posted this over at
( Remembering Milton )
Okay, so I think I've got this figured out now...
ETA: This hasn't updated; I'm at Level 4. Also, I desperately need children (it's much too late to do anything about the honesty part).

I've trimmed the f-list a bit, just because my LJ time is limited these days and I want to focus on reading the posts of those close to me. If I've dropped you from the list, it's because we rarely speak anymore; nothing personal.
Dear Inu-Yasha Fandom In General -
It's so nice to know that the wank continues, even when I'm too busy to enjoy it. It thrills me to no end to realize that there will always be bad!fic, diva-fits, overblown author-egos, canon purist-vs-alternate wars, 'ship wars and snarking...and that's just on the normal days. On a really good day, you get defriending, community-banning, deleted posts and tightened f-locks.
I love every part of you. Don't ever change.
Lavender
PS - If you've never read Sharyn Mccrumb's Bimbos of the Death Sun, you must. It is the best unintentional treatise on fandom ever written.
Son of PS - And yes, I stand behind every comment I've ever made at
truckstop_sushi. Keep in mind that there are people out there who think MY writing belongs at the truckstop as well, and they may be right. I don't take it personal - it's just fandom.

Ack! So busy!
I posted The Spider and the Fly over at
Will take time to catch up on LJ and read and review other flashfics tomorrow. Right now, my bed is calling my name...
I'm going to start posting the links to my original fiction done for
Here is the link to The Bear Lake Monster.
And here is my Shameless Linking to My FictionPress Profile.
Have at it. Or don't. *shrugs*

Maybe.
Ooh, and that songfic is still pounding in my head, too. Won't. Leave. Me. Alone.
I had way too much fun playing with this. This site is going in my favorites, right next to The Always Amusing Euphemism Generator.

It's hard to believe that just a year ago, I was happily anticipating My Favorite Blonde's return from the desert. He would be home in less than a month, so I busied myself with writing and remodeling projects. After his return, we were going to take a week-long trip somewhere by ourselves, a second honeymoon of sorts.

Since a couple of you have e-mailed to ask, I thought I'd post and mention that everything is just fine here in Boggy Bayou. ( Gas and Cash )
Please keep the recovery workers and the residents of these areas in your thoughts and, if you're so inclined, your prayers. Especially think of them after all of the media coverage has died down - day three of post-hurricane is manageble, but day thirteen with no power, no air-conditioning, no gasoline, and nothing but MREs to eat is when you really start to lose all patience.
......
And if you didn't catch
numisma's post, Del is okay. I'm was very glad to hear that.
......
Also, will somebody please tell the national news anchors that 'Mobile' is pronounced 'Mow-Bee-Yawl,' not 'Mo-bul'.

Don't know why this didn't catch my attention before, but I was probably doing something unimportant, like sleeping.
Anyway, I was cross-posting an entry on MediaMiner and noticed this:
( Media Miner has a new fiction rating system )
Okay...how do you rate anything anymore, including ficlets, etc., posted here at LiveJournal? I personally favor the system used to rate Manga (where you have the 'OT=Older Teen' option) because it's a bit more specific.
Media Miner's rating system is more descriptive than Fanfiction.net's, but yeesh - pretty soon, every site is going to have their own system. I think this means that any awards site (such as the IYFG) is going to have to use the rating listed by the hosting site, rather than the generic 'R' or 'PG', just to avoid trouble.
Trying to decide whether or not to mention this over at IYFG...

Yeah, it’s been done before. Now I’ve gone and done it, too.
Anyone game for some honest, open conversation about fanfiction contests?
1 - If you enter such things, do you ever vote for yourself?
and
2 - How do you feel about a moderator participating in the contest?
and
3 - How do you feel about nominating the work of those who have a direct connection to *your* work, such as betas/best friends/secret lovers?
I've turned off the IP logging and opened comments to anonymous users, so if that's the road you choose to take - go for it.
